16th June: All the details of the appointment are on this page. We have a very good surprise, to discover just here below...
15th June: 5 Exceptional MGA's at Charade
We were in contact with Steve Dixon, previous owner of Mabel, to bring the 5 work MGAs of the 1956 Alpine Rallye at Charade. It is a great chance, as the cars will come again for the 2006 edition, which starts from Geneva just after our MG event of the year. We are delighted to receive the cars and their owners on the track of Charade, and it will be a unique opportunity...an event in the event!!
The cars are:
MBL 867 driven by Bruce Chapman, Susan Chapman and Bill Chapman (respectively grandson, daughter and son-in-law of Nancy Mitchell who, with Pat Faichney, drove the car to a Coupe des Alpes in 1956 finishing 1st ladies, 3rd class, 15th overall).
MJB 167 driven by James Dixon and Dwight Lindstrom, the newly-discovered and restored Mille Miglia car (with MaBeL) from 1956. Was driven by Bill Shepherd and John Williamson to 5th in class on the 1956 Alpine.
MJB 191 driven by David, Ali and James Mylchreest (owner, wife and son) the white/green roof "team-captain's" car driven in 1956 by John Gott and Ray Brookes on the Alpine 1956 that retired eventually from a broken halfshaft following an accident that bent the rear axle.
MRX 42 driven by Philippe Douchet, a very good friend and member of the french MG club. MRX42 was driven on the 1956 Alpine by Jack Sears and Ken Best but retired following an accident.
MRX 43 driven by James Willis and his wife. James is a relative of John Milne who, with Douglas Johns, drove the car in 1956 finishing 4th in class.
As you know MaBeL is the oldest surviving MGA whilst the other 4 are early 1956 cars. The Mille Miglia 1956 was contested by MaBeL and MJB 167.
For this season, the cars will be painted as they were in 1956 for the Alpine. All were red with black hardtops except Gott's car, MJB 191 white with darkgreen.
